A new hopefully annual feature for Golf Aficionado, The Ultimate Fourth. Fitting in perfectly in the month of February and everyone wanting to be someone’s Valentine; we ask you, Bradley Cooper would you be our 4th?
Asking that age old question, if you could pick anyone in the world to round out your foursome, who would it be? In 2019, I can’t think of anyone better. A man of multiple talents, Bradley Cooper can act, direct, write, and sing with the best of them; but above all he just seems like the coolest dude on the planet!
I’m not sure if Bradley plays golf or not, based on his life thus far I’d have to put money on him being one hell of a golfer, and if he wasn’t I’m sure his personality and charm would still make him the favorite among any foursome.
To be honest the idea for the Ultimate Fourth was born Oscar Sunday, leading up to the Oscars, my wife was dying to watch A Star is Born for I don’t know maybe the 3rd or 4th time. I had yet to see the movie, but it was Sunday afternoon I had already played golf and was in that Oscar type of mood, so why not!
Nominated for Best Movie, A Star is Born was a huge success not only at the box office but among the critics as well who hailed the theatrical performance of Lady Gaga and the vocals of Bradley Cooper. As I watched A Star Is Born, which Cooper not only stars in but directs, I couldn’t help but fall in love with the romance between Ally and Jackson. Jackson Miles, an established musician on tour stumbles into a bar to find Ally performing. Love at first sight, Jackson falls for Ally’s smoldering good looks and soulful vocals. From there you see the tragic story of Ally’s rise and Jackson’s fall from grace. Not to ruin the movie, it’s a great watch and sure to get you bonus points with your significant other.
It’s funny, the idea to write this article didn’t hit me while watching A Star Is Born, but afterwards during the Oscars themselves. Seeing Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga walk up on stage from the audience and performing live at the Oscars was the “ah ha” moment. That performance which I’m sure will go down as one of the best live performances during any awards show was when I turned to my wife and said “I bet it would be amazing to play a round of golf with this guy”.
Sorry, but not sorry, you’ll need to excuse me but my mind just always goes back to golf. The coolest guy around but not too cool for his friends is how I imagine Bradley Cooper. The ultimate escape, 4 hours on a golf course with a few golf aficionados, maybe a beer or two and just enjoying each other’s company having a blast!
