The Golf Aficionado crew recently escaped to Pueblo Bonito Pacifica in Los Cabos. Pueblo Bonito Pacifica is a preeminent resort destination featuring world-class golf, dining, vistas, and service. Situated overlooking the Pacific Ocean on the Sea of Cortez lies the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Resort. Sunset Beach is next door to its sister property and adds amenities to your stay. I will delve into that advantage in greater detail later. Pueblo Bonito Pacifica is an adult-only ultra-luxurious resort with breathtaking Pacific Ocean views from every room and every part of the resort property. Upon entering the check-in area, you are immersed in incredible ocean views. A seamless check-in process whisks you to your room with your butler.
The rooms are what you would expect in a high-end resort—a Mexican theme with a flair of light and bright contemporary touches. The bathroom had a rain shower with well-appointed soap and conditioners. There is a nice-sized balcony that overlooks the expansive pool and Ocean. You know you have arrived at pure luxury as you hear the waves crash from your room. This resort has a level of sophistication unlike many other competing all-inclusive properties. Consider this property a large boutique with 201 guest rooms and suites. Pacifica is refined with a distinguished crowd looking to relax and unwind. The expansive beach makes it seem like you have a slice of heaven. Countless day beds to soak up the sun with gorgeous Pacific Ocean Sunsets! Due to its secluded area, yet only about 10 minutes to downtown, you won’t find panhandlers on this beach.
What distinguishes this resort from many other 5-star Mexican resorts is the impeccable quality of the food, attentive service, and world-class golf course. For context, I have stayed at Mayakoba and Grand Velas in Playa Del Carmen and numerous Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons resorts. Pueblo Bonito Pacifica is as good and, in many cases, better.
The food was incredible, not just “great for an all-inclusive.” I’m talking exceptional cuisine. We had dinner at Quivira Steakhouse, The Peninsula, and La Frida. It was a triple WOW!!! This is destination dining that will be remembered for years.
Quivira Steakhouse is situated at the clubhouse of the Quivira golf course. The entrance was a perfect 10, with fire pits and water features in a modern open-air concept leading out to the Pacific Ocean. The bar was spectacular, making drinks worthy of posting on Instagram. Having an incredible steak and sides to pair with sitting just a few feet from the beach was dazzling. We ordered dessert back in our suite with the included room service. I chose the carrot cake, the best I have ever had. I could write a paragraph about it, but trust me and order it at least once while visiting.
A lunchtime, you must visit the adjacent sister property Sunset Beach, offering quite possibly the most unique casual dining option I have ever seen at an all-inclusive…The Market at Quivira (Photos above). A super upscale eatery with gourmet tacos in one area, NY Delicatessen sandwiches in another, Italian, Gourmet Gelato, Asian/Sushi, and Coffee/Smoothies. The entire time I wondered how to find a way to eat it all. Could this be included?… usually this type of setup has upcharge written all over it, but not here! Next door to the market is a high-end sports bar. I’m a sports junkie, and usually, when a resort says they have a sports bar, it’s 2 or 3 TVs showing whatever is being broadcasted locally. This sports bar with its own menu had maybe 20 TVs airing every NFL game with its NFL Sunday Ticket package. I can’t stress enough how unique this setup is for a sports fan and foodie all rolled into one.
Dinner that night was at the formal Peninsula restaurant. Its entrance also utilized large fire pits with water features you walked between before entering the restaurant. My appetizer was Grilled Pote and Pear with Goat cheese, tortilla ash, pumpkin seeds, and olive oil. My main dish was Shrimp Fusion with wild rice, sweet potato puree, cilantro oil with garlic, and a chile de arbol. Hungry yet?
We also dined at La Frida, a AAA 4 Diamond restaurant at Sunset Beach. I have stayed at Grand Velas in Playa del Carmen (another 5 Star property) for comparison. Their Mexican restaurant can’t touch Pueblo Bonitas. I had a special enchilada mole dish that I still think about. A tequila cart comes around, making out-of-this-world cocktails with a colossal smoke bubble on the drink. Check out the picture below of my salad, beverage, and enchiladas for a proper understanding!
Our final dining extravaganza was a specially prepared dinner on the beach. The ambiance on the beach, with party lights above and ponchos to stay cozy, was fantastic. The food and service were on point.
Due to staying within the Towers Collection, we had access to the Whale Watching VIP Lounge. The lounge resembles a high-end business-class lounge at an airport overlooking the Ocean. You felt the exclusivity of having access to this space.
The Spa, like everything else at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica, was phenomenal. I had a massage much like the carrot cake, better than anything I had ever experienced.
Other activities included a wrap-around swimming pool with a swim-up bar and plenty of comfortable loungers, pickle ball courts, a large fitness center, tequila tasting, and a bonfire on the beach.
Pueblo Bonito Pacifica delivers excellence at every level. Book a trip now if you enjoy treating yourself to the best there is to offer with world-class golf, service, dining, and views. If not, do it for the carrot cake alone! Our next article will detail the Quivira Golf Club and learn how this 18-hole design reached #1 in our Top 10.
