I walk a lot of golf, and I have learned that a shoe’s first impression only tells you so much. Almost anything can look good coming out of the box. The better question is how it feels after several rounds and whether you still like what you see when you reach for it again.
After roughly a dozen rounds in my Heathlanders, I do. They still look new, they have held up well, and they are comfortable shoes to play in.
The look drew me in first. Heathlander has taken a classic golf shoe and given it some personality without going overboard. They look polished, but they do not feel like shoes I need to save for a special round. I can wear them with just about any golf outfit, play my round, and still feel put together afterward. That versatility matters to me because I would rather own shoes I actually wear than shoes I only admire on the shelf.
The fit has been just as appealing. As someone who regularly walks the course, comfort is not a bonus feature. It is the starting point. These have felt good on my feet through the rounds I have played, and I have been happy with how they perform when it is time to make a swing. I am never eager to give up comfort for style, so finding both in the same pair has been a pleasant surprise.
There is a reason the design feels rooted in golf. Co-founders Teddy Lynn and Mark Himmelsbach drew inspiration from the UK’s heathland courses, and the brand says it makes its gear with walking golfers in mind. That comes through in the shoes. They have a traditional look, but they feel like something I can put to work week after week.
The shoes and knitwear were among the winners of a 2025 PGA Show Best New Product Award. Awards are nice, but I put more stock in what happens once a product makes it into my regular rotation. A dozen rounds in, the Heathlanders have earned their place there.
The Final Score
If your golf shoes need to look sharp, feel comfortable while you walk, and continue looking good after regular use, I would give Heathlander a serious look. Mine have delivered on all three.
