I’m an avid golfer and carry an 8-Handicap, having now played nearly 20 rounds with the Lamkin TS1 Midsize Plus grips and Lamkin Sink Fit straight putter grip I wanted to share my opinion. What turned me on to these grips initially was there level of comfort and tackiness, I love tacky grips. I liked the overall look, especially the red stripe, which gives a sense of confidence and power to the clubs. With the irons, the multi-pattern compound construction looked like it would help with overall feel and confidence when grabbing the club. In regards to the putter, I like the slightly enlarged contour shape. The only thing left to do was test these grips in Florida’s summer heat and humidity.
Lamkin TS1 Plus
After nearly 20 rounds with the TS1 plus iron grips, my overall opinion is that these grips have been excellent. What separates the Lamkin TS1 Plus from other grips is their tackiness and feel. The TS1 Plus allows me to hold the club slightly loser in my hand, without a fear the club could slip out of my grip.
They are comfortable, but not as soft as my previous Golf Pride CP2 grips. The major difference is the TS1 plus grips feel more responsive and tacky. I can say they are one of the tackiest grips I have played, and this includes playing golf in extreme heat. To be specific, August in Central Florida with very high humidity as well as Austin in the summer with temperatures well over 100°. The reduced tapering is not significantly noticeable but does help the overall feel and control of the club. After my play of nearly 20 rounds, I’ve yet to see any wear at all, so durability gets an A+. I can say that my handicap is at an all-time low since making the change to these grips. I can’t give them all the credit, but they have helped. Due to their tackiness, I have noticed that I am wearing through my gloves a little quicker, but if better play results in having to purchase a $15 glove one or two rounds quicker, that is well worth it to me.
Lamkin Sink Fit Straight Putter Grip
I love the Sink Fit straight polyurethane putter grip. It has given me more confidence with shorter putts (3-6 feet). The look of this putter grip, just like my irons, is that of power and confidence with its red stripe on the top. The parallel shape with subtle contour feel is what has provided me with increased confidence and feel on those shorter putts. The shape of the grip does a nice job of aligning my hands and wrist in a position to have consistent putts. In regards to the size and width of the putter, it’s not huge like some of the newer grips these days, but certainly bulkier than your standard “old school” Mr. Ping grip. To me, the size is perfect (not too big and not too small). The grip is softer than the TS1 Plus grips but still provides enough tackiness in the hottest of days.
Bottomline
If you are looking for a high-performance grip that leans more towards tackiness and less towards a soft cushy feel, I highly recommend the Lamkin TS1 Midsize Plus grips. The Sink Fit polyurethane putter grip brings a level of stability and confidence for your putting and is both comfortable and tacky.
