PAYNTR Golf Reserve Classic RS Review: Classic Style Meets Walkable Performance

In Product Reviews by Rob Spellman

I will be honest. Before PAYNTR Golf sent me a pair of its Reserve Classic RS shoes to test, I had never heard of the brand.

That is not necessarily a bad thing. In golf, some of the most interesting products are not always the ones with the biggest marketing budgets or the loudest tour presence. Still, golf shoes are personal. They are one of those pieces of equipment where performance claims are easy to make and much harder to prove after four-plus hours on your feet.

So I did what I usually do when testing gear for Golf Aficionado. I did not baby them. I did not wear them around the house for a few days. I did not ease into a casual nine-hole cart round.

I threw them straight into the deep end.

The first time I put on the PAYNTR Golf Reserve Classic RS, I walked 18 holes.

That is usually a risky decision with a new pair of golf shoes. Anyone who walks a lot of golf knows the wrong shoe can turn a good round into a long afternoon. Hot spots, heel rub, stiffness, poor support, and questionable traction all seem to show up somewhere around the sixth or seventh hole. By the back nine, there is nowhere to hide.

The Reserve Classic RS passed that first test impressively well.

First Impressions

From a design standpoint, the Reserve Classic RS immediately checks an important box for me. It looks like a golf shoe.

That may sound simple, but it matters. The golf shoe market has shifted heavily toward sneaker-inspired silhouettes, and while I appreciate athletic comfort, I still like a shoe that feels appropriate at a private club, a resort course, or a traditional golf setting. The Reserve Classic RS has that balance. It carries a classic profile, clean lines, and a premium look, but it does not feel dated.

PAYNTR offers the shoe in traditional colorways, which helps reinforce the timeless feel. It is not trying too hard. There are no unnecessary design gimmicks or loud distractions. It looks polished enough to pair with a proper golf outfit, while still giving you the sense that modern performance technology is working underneath.

That is exactly where this shoe finds its lane.

Walking Comfort

Comfort is where the Reserve Classic RS won me over.

PAYNTR uses PMXFOAM cushioning, an OrthoLite footbed, and its PMXSpeed PLT platform to create a shoe that is designed for responsive comfort, support, and stability. I am not going to pretend most golfers need to memorize those names, but I will say this: whatever PAYNTR is doing underfoot works.

The first thing I noticed was that there was no real break-in period. The shoe felt comfortable almost immediately. That is not always the case with more traditional golf shoes, especially waterproof models that can sometimes feel stiff out of the box.

Through 18 walking holes, the Reserve Classic RS stayed comfortable. It had enough cushion to protect my feet, but not so much that it felt soft or unstable. That is an important distinction. Some golf shoes feel great when you first put them on, but once you start swinging, walking uneven terrain, or climbing in and out of bunkers, they can feel disconnected from the ground.

These felt supportive without feeling heavy or overly rigid. For golfers who walk, that matters. Comfort is not a luxury. It is a performance feature. If your feet are tired by the 14th hole, it affects your posture, your balance, your swing, and probably your attitude.

On-Course Performance

PAYNTR positions the Reserve Classic RS as an all-conditions performance golf shoe, and the construction supports that claim. The shoe features a premium microfiber waterproof upper with a breathable sealed construction, which gives it a more refined look while still being built for real-world golf conditions.

The traction was also better than I expected. The TPU outsole with the Fast Twist insert system provided multidirectional grip throughout the round. I felt stable during the swing and secure while walking, including on sidehill lies and through damp or uneven turf.

That stability is one of the areas where the Reserve Classic RS separates itself from more casual sneaker-style golf shoes. It feels like a shoe built for the golf swing, not just a comfortable shoe that happens to have golf traction on the bottom.

There is structure here, but not too much. The shoe gives you support during the swing without making you feel locked in place. For me, that is the sweet spot. I want to feel grounded, but I do not want to feel like I am wearing something bulky or overbuilt.

Who It Is For

The PAYNTR Golf Reserve Classic RS is best suited for golfers who still appreciate a traditional-looking golf shoe but do not want to sacrifice modern comfort and performance. If you walk a lot, play in varied conditions, or want something that can work at both a private club and a resort course, this shoe makes a lot of sense.

At $150, it sits in a competitive but reasonable category for a premium golf shoe. It is not inexpensive, but based on the comfort, waterproof construction, traction, and overall finish, it feels fairly positioned.

The Final Score

The PAYNTR Golf Reserve Classic RS surprised me in the best possible way.

I went from never having heard of PAYNTR Golf to walking 18 holes in its shoes the first time I tried them on and coming away genuinely impressed. The comfort was immediate, the design was clean and classic, and the performance held up over a full walking round.

This is not just a good-looking golf shoe. It is a serious walking shoe with enough stability, traction, and support to earn a place in the rotation.

The Reserve Classic RS turned PAYNTR Golf from a brand I did not know into one I will absolutely be paying attention to.
