For most of us, it starts at a young age; as we start to develop our own personalities we look for ways to distinguish ourselves and standout from the crowd. Whether it was trying to customize our bicycle or skateboard as kids, to growing up and trying to do the same with our cars or motorcycles. How about on the golf course?
People often try to stand out on the course with apparel, but that’s not custom. You might be able to put together the perfect ensemble. However, unless you know how to sew and make your own clothes it’s not truly custom or one of a kind, although you can never go wrong with a Golf Aficionado hat!
Custom Stamping
If you consider yourself a golfer, you’re most likely familiar with the traditional practice of customizing golf clubs, the tried and true method of hand stamping letters & symbols and then filling with paint. If you’ve ever looked in a tour player’s bag it’s pretty common to see lots of custom stamping and paint fill on their wedges.
Do It Yourself Stamping
The process of custom stamping is pretty simple and anyone can try to do it themselves. In fact, for around $20 and a trip to the hardware store you can pick up a set of stamps and when combined with a 2lb hammer you’re in business. That off the rack wedge from the PGA Tour Superstore, well that’s now a custom one of a kind hand stamped work of art you can be proud of, assuming you didn’t screw it up! Fill in the stamps with your favorite color, or mix and match colors to your golf bag, shoes, grips, hat, or whatever you want to coordinate with.
The Tyson Lamb Effect
Until recently, I always thought customizing golf clubs and putters started and ended with stamping and paint fill. As luck would have it, I just happened to stumble upon The Golf Garage. You see, I’m a huge fan of Tyson Lamb. What, you haven’t heard about Tyson Lamb? Wake Up, People! He’s one of the biggest sensations in golf and just happens to make some of the most sought-after, hottest putters and accessories in the world. My fascination with all things Tyson Lamb led me to the Tyson Lamb Enthusiast Group on Facebook. Shortly after joining the group, I started to see members posting some of the custom work they had done by The Golf Garage.
The first thought that went through my mind was, these people are crazy, it’s hard enough to get a piece made by Tyson Lamb and the first thing you do is muck with it? Then, I was like, WOW! Having seen some of the work from The Golf Garage first hand, I can tell you that if you can dream it, they can do it. I mean it’s cool to have a piece from Tyson Lamb, but to have a totally customized piece from Tyson Lamb is totally awesome. It all goes back to what started with wedges, we all love our Vokey Designed wedges but they just look so much better with custom stamping and paint fill, so why not do the same with your favorite putter, ball maker, of divot tool?
What Golf Garage Can Do
The Golf Garage goes way beyond custom stamping and paint fill. When I say way beyond, I mean it. They offer complete custom refinishing services. Don’t like the look of your putter or wedge? They can give it a custom makeover with a PVD or Polymer finish in one of several different finishes. Want that very special custom touch? They provide laser etching to your specs, check out our Golf Aficionado Miura Wedges! Has your trusty flat stick seen better days? They completely remill putters, bringing them back to life with a better than new custom finish. Heck, they can even add custom sightlines to help you line up those 3 footers. Like I said, if you dream it up, The Golf Garage can make it happen.
