Under Armour Octane Game Day Sunglasses
Having a solid pair of sunglasses when playing golf is very important. With a game that so heavily revolves around trusting your eyes, golf demands precise depth perception to succeed on the course. Being an Arizona native, sunglasses are a must for me on the course. Not only do sunglasses help to block the sun’s brightness, they also protect your eyes against harmful UV rays. Extended exposure to UV rays may result in short term or long term damage, including macular degeneration. That’s why I picked up the Under Armour Octane glasses. While they aren’t guaranteed to save me any strokes. They are guaranteed to protect my eyes against the elements.

Comfort/Functionality
Made from a combination of titanium & Grilamid , the Octane glasses offered an extremely light feel. The weight was a great feature as you don’t want to feel like there are virtual reality goggles on your eyes as you stand over the ball. The temple pieces are nicely curved with a few holes in each side to add to the light weight. The temple pieces flex outward to accommodate all shapes and sizes. The nose piece is also adjustable for optimal fitting.
Sun Protection
The lenses offered good protection from the sun and the UV rays. The Octane’s lenses block 100% of UVA, UVB & UVC rays. Although they were not polarized, the Octane’s did a great job. They were also not too dark where as to hinder gameplay.
Aesthetics
With a lightweight shiny frame and charcoal lenses, the Octane’s looked sleek on my face. They are also easy to clean so that shine will remain long after first use.
Lenses
The lenses were a beautiful shiny char Under Armour offers options to change both the lens color and the temple color. They were also a great size and fit well on my face. While they provided great protection, I only wished the lenses wrapped around my face a bit more.

Overall the Under Armour sunglasses are awesome. The quality is there; the Game Day Lenses by Carl Zeiss are second to none. I’ve tried not to make this review too complicated, but the technology behind these shades is nothing to shake a stick at. The comfort and fit were spot on, the light-weight and durable frame performed without issue. The only reason for the 4-star rating instead of 5 was the lens design, there were times on the course when the sun was glaring and a lens that wrapped around more would have made a difference. There are several styles and colors to choose from so make sure to try them all to find a fit for your face and game. Under Armour continues to expand their brand into golf, with quality products like these sunglasses the sky’s the limit for Under Armour!
