Volvik XT Soft Golf Balls – Do They Perform?

In Product Reviews by David Theoret

Volvik has over 40 years of experience manufacturing golf balls and is probably best known for some wild, almost glow-in-the-dark colors.  Volvik is dedicated to being a top-tier golf ball company.  The current emphasis is on producing 3 and 4-piece multi-layer high-performance golf balls for players of every skill set. Volvik turned the golf ball business upside down with their patented SF matte coating, which led to the development of Vivid, the world’s first matte finish golf ball. Since introducing Vivid, Volvik continues to expand its product line with the 2020 introductions of the XT Soft and the next generation of Vivid.

A few months ago, Vovlik sent us a supply of the new XT Soft to see what we thought of their latest golf ball.

Technical Specifications

The XT Soft uses a 3-piece VU-X urethane cover with a 336-dimple design. The V-UX urethane cover delivers the maximum feel, shot-shaping control, and spectacular control around the greens.

With a compression rating of 70, the Volvik dual-core transfers power from the more solid inner core to the softer outer layer, which reduces excess driver spin, increasing the moment of inertia and centrifugal force, leading to more distance and more roll. XT Soft is ideal for swing speeds between 75 and 95 mph and is optimized for low driver spin, excellent wedge spin, and a mid-high trajectory.  The ultra-soft Bismuth oversized core promotes speed helping to add more distance. To finish things off, Volvik added an alignment tracking system with triple putting lines for easier alignment on the green.

Feedback From The Course

I had a couple of club pros play 18 this past week with the new Volvik XT Soft, and they were amazed at how well the ball performed. They found it easy to move left to right or right to left, and they found the spin around the greens easy to control. As your average, once a week golfer, I found the same to be accurate; unfortunately, they don’t float!

Players using Volvik golf balls have earned millions of dollars in prize money with multiple victories. At $37.99 a dozen retail, they may help put some cash in your pocket as well!
